JIBA achieve Jersey Clubmark
The Jersey Indoor Bowls Association are the first bowls club in the island to achieve Jersey Clubmark status having met high quality standards in sports club management, safety, coaching and competition and off-island travel.
Paul Brannan, Community Development Officer (Sport) said “Working in partnership with the Jersey Indoor Bowls Association has enabled a large number of children to take up bowls during the school holidays and increased participation in the sport. Through our community programmes partnership a number of families have also taken up membership with the club.”
Constable Steve Pallett, Assistant Minister for Sport, said: “Jersey Clubmark recognises high quality sports clubs and the contribution that they make to the development of sport in the Island. I’m delighted that the Jersey Indoor Bowling Association has been recognised and congratulate them on their work in encouraging youngsters to take up the sport of bowls.”
Helen Bowyer, Manager of the club, said: “The support of the Sports Development Department, local schools and scout and cub groups has gone a long way to helping the success of our junior programme. We are hoping to extend the school programme next year with the help of our coaches and parents."
